The world's most popular cocktail

Drinks have been mixed for centuries, but it wasn’t until the 17th and 18th centuries that they became famous enough to be recorded in history. Now we live in a cocktail crazed society, arranging visits with friends to frequent the very best bars and sip at the creations made by the very best bartenders, but, which cocktail really tickles the nation’s fancy?

Simon Difford, founder of Difford’s Guide, decided to take it upon himself to find out and has recently published the ‘World’s 100 Most Popular Cocktails’ and guess who came out on top… you’ve got it, the Martini.

Over the years the Martini has become the nation’s most loved cocktail and, as Simon rightly states ‘every bartender worth his salt must be able to make one.’ The original Martini consists of gin and vermouth but time has seen Vodka Martinis becoming ever more popular. Famously drunk ‘shaken and not stirred’ by James Bond, the Vodka Martini has evolved, which is where Ketel One comes in…
